In the opening scene where he gets the roses, it almost seems like they recorded the dialogue separately and then pasted it over the video, because the conversational sequence sounds choppy, and their responses to each other seem to overlap. Furthermore, the lines aren't spoken with any particular flare, and it even seems like Tommy's mouth doesn't move when you hear him speaking.
